Merit Badge Frenzy

Welcome to Greater Yosemite Council Rio Del Oro Merit Badge Frenzy Website. 2013 marks our first year of what will hopefully become an annual event for our area.

All scouts that attend are required to bring a sack lunch, pencils and workbook printed from Meritbadge.org for every class attended. Any Additional requirements will be listed under specific badge.

Almost all classes have Prerequisites required for completing the badge. It is better to have them done before but each councilor is prepared to help finishing after the frenzy is over and will explain how that will happen during the session.

There will be 2 3-hour sessions but some classes will take all day.
Registration from 800-845am
Opening flag Ceremony at 8:45am
First Session is from 9am-12pm
Second Session is from 1230pm to 330pm
There will be a 1/2 lunch break from 12-1230 where the scouts need to eat their sack lunch.

All Day Classes

• Communications
  • No Prerequisites
• Citizenship in the Nation (Full)
  • Prerequisite #3
• First Aid
  • $20 Fee Required to be paid directly to the instructor
  • Prerequisite #2d

Half Day Classes

• Veterinary Medicine
  • Prerequisites #6a or b
  • Contact dugmarks@aol.com for a list of clinics if needed

Farm Mechanics

• No Prerequisties 

Dentistry

• Prerequisites # 4c, 7
• Pocket Knife w/ completed Totin' Chip
• Colored Pencils

Family Life

• Prerequisites #3 started, #5 Plan outlined if not completed

American Heritage

• Prerequisites
  • Read the Declaration of Independence & rewrite the specified phrase prior to Merit Badge Frenzy
  • Obtain the counselors approval for requirement 2b,2c,or 2d prior to the Merit Badge Frenzy
  • Select topic and have discussion points ready for requirement 3a prior to attending Merit Badge Frenzy
  • Research the family history before the Merit Badge Frenzy and be ready to discuss various events and situations in American history that affected your family.
  • Complete any two items from requirement 4 before Merit Badge Frenzy and be prepared to discuss them with the councilors
  • Get the counselor’s approval for requirement 5a or 5b prior to attending the Merit Badge Frenzy.

Scouting Heritage

• Prerequisites
  • Read about the life and times of Lord Baden-Powell and be prepared to participate in a discussion with the councilor as described in requirement 1
  • Write the two biographical sketches of early Scouting leaders and write our your discussion for significance of any two items in requirement 2
  • Be prepared to discuss the Scouting programs development and adaptations for requirement 3
  • Prepare the presentation of your troops history or history of scouting in your area prior to the Merit Badge Frenzy and be ready to present your finding to the councilor and group for requirement 5
  • Prepare a collection and show it to the councilor for requirement 6
  • get prior approval for an old fashion game not listed in the merit badge book for requirement 7
  • Conduct three interviews before the merit badge frenzy and be prepared to present your findings for requirement 8. The councilor will not be interviewed.

Automotive Mechanics

• Prerequisites #2-h,i, 11-pick two bring proof such as pictures of you doing it or 150+ word report whichever is applicable

• Councilor had to cancel please email if you need a councilor and I will forward you the email.

• Prerequisites- Start filling out workbook
